About Me

Every worship leader needs a pointy picture ;-)

Welcome!

Despite the fact that my accent has been polluted from years of living in London (which has been called the greatest city in the world) I remain English – born in Norfolk and raised in Sunny Sussex. I’m married to Amanda (since 1996) and have two sons who are already on their way to becoming mighty men.

The bottom line is I’m a worshipper who is passionate about God, passionate about people encountering him in a real way, and passionate about seeing God’s church become all that He desires it to be.

Background

As far as church and worship goes, I have somewhat eclectic roots. I became a Christian when I was about 5. My most formative early years were spent growing up attending a New Frontiers church and also going to a Church of England school (chapel, school choir, and all that jazz). I first played as part of a worship team when I was about 14 or so, I guess – part of my hometown ‘happy, clappy’ methodist church. I led worship in youth group from sometime thereabouts onwards, led worship in church a few times in youth services before coming to university.

At university I joined a church called His People London (now called Every Nation Church, London). I immediately got involved in playing in the worship team, started leading worship, ended up overseeing one of the teams and eventually the worship ministry (as one of several worship leaders). Jan 2005 I started on staff as a pastor in the church, and one of the hats I wear is ‘Worship Development’ for our congregations. This means ‘equipping the saints for the work of the ministry’ – i.e. helping our (all volunteer) worship leaders, team leaders, ‘ministry leaders for the congregation’, and musicians to be great at what they do.

Passion

All that to say I’ve been involved in church worship for a pretty long time, from many different angles and have some experience mistakes I hope to be able to pass on that others may learn from. I’ve never really been one for the spotlight – believing that church is supposed to be a ‘together’ thing, not just about one or two guys in centre stage.

I love leading people into God’s presence and seeing them changed by encountering him. and I believe that worshipping the Father is an essential foundation for the abundant life Jesus promises.

I dream of God raising up an army of worshippers and worship leaders who will radically change the world for His glory. This site is an effort  to capture the expressions and thoughts of my head and heart to equip people to worship and lead others to do the same.
